We Are Spider Martial Arts

Founded in 2019, our mission is to represent Capoeira in the modern world. Capoeira was founded as a form of Afro-liberation, however the world is very different than it was then, but Capoeira’s mission is still ever necessary. Spider Martial Arts stays rooted with one hand in ancestrality and respect to its Capoeira roots while reaching the other hand towards the future with the emerging movements of today. The internet or The Web has brought many changes to our world, including the pioneering of Martial Arts Tricking, Parkour, and Breakdance which Spider Martial Arts reapplies back to Capoeira, where these new disciplines have their roots. Film is also a big player in the modern world, and Spider Martial Arts values Stunt Performance and Action Acting on film to represent Black & Indigenous voices. The modern day has continued to bring challenges to people of color, and Spider Martial Arts aims to bring positive representation to these voices thru martial arts and movement based in Capoeira. We pride ourselves on personal achievement and community support. At Spider Martial Arts, each vigorous hour spent training is seen as an opportunity to build confidence, discipline and both mental and physical strength.
